Hi there, welcome to my travel blog. My name is Rachel and I was born and raised on Cape Cod Massachusetts. I am a young woman with a passion for all things travel, food and adventure. I am always looking out for my next adventure, whether it be a weekend getaway in my home state or a trip across the country. One of my most favorite things to do while traveling is discovering local cuisine and trying new foods. I am always eager to learn more about different culinary traditions which then I bring back to my catering company that I own on Cape Cod. I love the excitement of discovering a new and unknown place.
The White Elephant
Location : 50 Easton St. Nantucket, MA
The White Elephant has a special place in my heart, it is where my now husband proposed after 8 years together. The White Elephant is a 5 star luxury hotel located on Nantucket, Massachusetts. Known for its picturesque setting and luxurious amenities, it offers their guests the chance to experience Nantucket island’s natural beauty and charm. The White Elephant features spacious guest rooms and suites, many with views of the harbor. You are able to watch the ferry come in and out of port which is exciting. There is one dining option on the property, a spa, a pool and a fitness center. This hotel is a popular destination for travelers looking for a peaceful and upscale getaway.
I have stayed at this pristine property twice and both times were memorable. I have provided a complete review and guide to the property.
When you arrive..
If you arrive to the island by ferry the hotel will arrange for a van to pick you up from the ferry port. They will bring you to the hotel which is located 5 – 10 minutes away by car. This is a convenient amenity if you have heavy luggage. Let the concierge know when you will be arriving to the island and someone from the hotel will be waiting with a White Elephant sign to escort you to the van.
The atmosphere : This property encompasses the beautiful romantic nature of Nantucket. The exterior is very coastal ‘Cape Cod’. Situated right on the water, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. I would recommend this property for families and couples.
The restaurant : Brant Point Grill is the restaurant located on property. It is on the main level and has beautiful views of the harbor. They offer american cuisine and a menu that reflects the local eats. Lots of seafood, which I would not pass up on! They have a wonderful wine and spirits selection as well.
We ordered room service which was very delicious. One morning we ordered breakfast to our room, it was nice to be able to sit on the balcony and enjoy breakfast. The balcony felt very private and the mornings are quiet.
The amenities : Located on property is a fitness center, a pool area and a spa. All of these amenities make up for a great stay at their property and sets them apart from the rest.
The pool area is located in a separate area than the main hotel. It is a great relaxing spot to bring a book and take a dip, especially on a hot summers day. During the summer months it is mostly filled with families, but there are private cabanas you can purchase to get some seclusion. I opted to do this while visiting, so we could have a private space just us two. When we visited this property with friends we also did this as well.
The pool attendants are so helpful. Right when you arrive to the pool area they readily set up your lounge chairs and towels. You are able to order drinks and light bites from the snack bar. We really enjoyed this as we got to soak up the island sun.
The spa is fantastic, I was able to receive a massage treatment and was also able to book that morning. It was the most perfect way to relax. The spa is located in the main hotel near the front desk. There are several treatment rooms with a calming vibe and enjoyable atmosphere.
The best time to visit: I have stayed at The White Elephant during the more quiet spring and during the busy summer, both had their own benefits.
My spring stay was in late May, this seemed like a great time to visit. I am usually on the island throughout the summer due to business obligations. I always have seen the island while there is the most hustle and bustle. May is a great time to enjoy everything the island has to offer. Businesses are open and getting ready for the busy season, the weather is perfect for exploring and shopping and the restaurants have available reservations.
During this stay we got a room that had a direct view of the harbor. We had a balcony and were able to watch the ferry come in and out of port, which was really fantastic. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The room had a coastal vibe, exactly what I would want out of a Nantucket hotel.
My summer stay was in mid July, I really love visiting the island at this time. The excitement is high, the weather is beautiful and the people watching is on a ten. During the summer months there are a few things I would recommend, you need to make accommodations in advance. Hotel, restaurant reservations, flights, ferry tickets etc. Another thing I would recommend is taking advantage of hotel bikes. They offer complimentary bikes which are great for exploring and a nice way to navigate the busy streets. Allow the concierge to plan excursions for you and your group. There is so much to do on the island during the summer and a lot to explore.
I would return to this Nantucket property and recommend it to people who ask where to stay for a luxurious experience. The hotel staff are all so accommodating and friendly, they pay close attention to detail and it shows. You feel like you are being well taken care of from the moment you step on to the island. It was a sad goodbye, but I hope to return to this beautiful hotel soon!
They are renovating the main hotel rooms and opening with a new look this spring 2023.
